ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL INTENSIVE
Join us for a professional learning experience centered on student mental health, as we engage with tools and strategies that will support our learners following unprecedented state, national, and global events and, in general, life as an adolescent in 2025. Led by educator and certified youth mental health specialist Natalie Babcock, this workshop will support participants in processing current events through the student lens and developing specific tools and verbiage to support learners directly as they navigate life’s many stressors--today and moving forward. Educators will develop strategies, curricular guidelines, and pedagogical approaches to address mental health themes in the classroom. Educators will also leave this workshop with tools to begin facilitating proactive and age-appropriate discussions about mental health with their students and school communities.
LEARNING GOALS
Participants will:
- Explore how the mental health crisis impacts students and discover ways to foster developmentally appropriate conversations about this topic
- Practice designing grade-specific lesson plans that address overarching mental health concepts
- Engage in a discourse about how to raise these pressing themes in the classroom (and school community)
- Embrace our role as first responders for students, supporting their understanding of mental health as they navigate the ever-changing landscape of twenty-first-century adolescence
AUDIENCE
The intended audience for this program is educators and administrators who are passionate and curious about supporting the mental health of their students and community. The “best fit” audience member is an educator who works with early to middle adolescent students, though the content of this program can be adapted and modified to fit a wider audience.
