ABOUT THIS IN-PERSON ONGOING PROGRAM

Administrative assistant roles are unique, complicated, and demanding. These positions require professionalism, exceptional interpersonal expertise, technology skills, and the ability to manage and monitor multiple projects and events simultaneously.

As administrative support roles require maintaining confidentiality, they can feel particularly isolating. Our program offers an intimate, confidential, and inclusive environment designed to foster connections, learning, support, and dialogues with peers with similar experiences and challenges.

This year's ongoing program will be in-person and consist of 3 5-hour workshops. Sessions will be tailored to the needs and interests of our cohort and may include relationship building, boundary setting, self-advocacy, delegation, leadership, technology resources, self-care, and more! Additionally, we will incorporate time to problem solve, share knowledge and resources, request practical feedback or suggestions, and connect about our jobs.

Themes we will explore this year include:

  • How administrative professionals contribute to school initiatives and drive progress toward institutional goals
  • How to navigate vendor relationships, project timelines, and event planning logistics
  • How to engage with families and various school stakeholders with confidence and clarity
  • How to develop systems for staying organized, including best practices for maintaining effective binders and documentation

AUDIENCE

This program is for executive assistants, administrative assistants, and anyone serving in a support role at a school.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Whittney Rooks, CATDC Facilitator

Whittney Rooks is proud to be from the small town of Centre, Alabama, where she was raised to understand the responsibility she has to her community and to have reverence for the many ways we take care of each others’ well-being. Currently, she is a Human Development teacher at Brentwood School, where she co-designs and teaches our culturally responsive curriculum that supports adolescents in their transition to highschool. Before this, she was the front office manager and administrative assistant at Walden School and Chandler School, where she assisted the onboarding of newly-appointed heads of school and division directors. In Alabama, she managed a team of 40 employees as a guest service team leader at Target while working for the Parks and Recreation division of the City of Hoover designing, instructing, and organizing programming for special-needs children. The many roles she’s played within these organizations over the last 17 years well-equipped her to handle the complexities of supporting school systems. Her life has been dedicated to supporting and uplifting teams, and, most importantly, they giggled, worked through the hard times together, and created community!

HOST AND PARTNER SCHOOL

CATDC partners with member schools to host our in-person programs, providing educators the opportunity to learn with peers in diverse settings. We are thrilled to partner with Flintridge Preparatory School on this ongoing program, welcoming the larger independent school community to meet on their campus throughout the school year.
