Equitable Hiring Practices in Independent Schools

ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL INTENSIVE

In this virtual intensive, participants will review policies, California and Federal laws, and statutes to ensure adherence to search and hiring procedures. Using data, research, best practices, and case studies, participants will learn equitable hiring practices for hiring committees with alignment to the CAIS Strategic Plan (2023 - 2027) Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging Principles. Participants will also have the opportunity to workshop their campus search and hiring plans with each other with support from facilitators.

LEARNING GOALS

As a result of participation in this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the DEI imperative for equitable hiring practices in their school
  • Paraphrase relevant policies, laws, and statutes related to equitable hiring practices
  • Summarize CAIS Strategic Plan’s connection to developing equitable hiring practices
  • Analyze biased situations that may need intervention in hiring committees 
  • Collaboratively assess campus hiring and search practices for inclusion, equity, and belonging

COACHING

CATDC is offering a coaching component for individuals or teams from our member schools to deepen their experience in this 3-hour intensive. For an additional $200, Nick Daily will provide individuals with 30 minutes of online coaching. For an additional $750, Nick Daily will provide teams with 90 minutes of online coaching. ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

NickDa

Nick Daily (He/They) is the Founder & CEO of LuvServedDaily Consulting. Nick Daily is a Black Queer person whose values are LuvServedDaily. He has been facilitating workshops and providing consultation for over a decade. Prior to their work as Founder and CEO of LuvServedDaily Consulting, they served as the chief diversity officer at a large public community college. He loves playing and watching friends and family play video games, karaoke, and road cycling. Nick centers the humanity and experiences of everyone trying to make a positive change in the world. The Luv and joy at the core of their work carries throughout the style and content of the diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops and keynotes they provide to organizations.
