ABOUT THIS HYBRID ONGOING PROGRAM

This program leads participants through an active roadmap for reimagining their schools’ approach to teacher SuperVision and growth-focused feedback. Develop new models of teacher mentorship and support to navigate and embrace post-remote shifts in teaching and learning. Program facilitators, Karen Pavliscak, Associate Head of School for Teaching and Learning, and Maggie Cenan, Math Department Chair at the Archer School for Girls were part of a leadership team that engaged in a multi-year process to craft a more dynamic and responsive system to stretch teachers’ growth edges and support their well-being. This ongoing program includes two in-person learning labs, a hybrid collaboration session, and a remote one-on-one coaching opportunity.  Participants will be able to fast-track the research, design, and implementation process to develop their own clear and purposeful teacher SuperVision and feedback system that aligns with their school’s unique mission and culture.

Participants will:

  • Reflect on their current systems of mentoring teachers and discern what is working and what could evolve.
  • Observe the model in action and consider opportunities to adapt the model for their schools.
  • Develop a roadmap to implement an updated system that sustains teachers’ growth.
  • Engage in one-one coaching to discuss challenges unique to their school communities.

AUDIENCE

This program is designed for Associate Heads, Directors of Teaching and Learning, Division Directors, Deans of Faculty, and Department Chairs.

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

CATDC and Archer School for Girls will be working together to do all we can to ensure your health and safety during our in-person session, monitoring closely nationwide, state, and local updates and recommendations. We ask that you do not attend if you are infected with Covid, have Covid symptoms, or have had close contact with someone who is infected in the last 10 days.

Starting February 2023, we will no longer check vaccination status at the first session of our workshops, but we strongly encourage all CATDC participants to be fully vaccinated.

Given the nature of our in-person programs which gather individuals together from a variety of schools and regions, CATDC may require or strongly recommend masking indoors and/or testing on a program-by-program basis.  A host school/venue may require additional protocols which we will communicate to participants via email in a timely fashion prior to a program or session.  All Covid-related refund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Maggie Cenan, CATDC Facilitator

Maggie Cenan has been an educator in Middle and Upper School Math programs for the past 14 years. In addition to her role as a classroom teacher and instructional leader, she is the Math and Computer Science Department Chair at Archer School for Girls. Her combination of instructional and curriculum-building expertise enables her to create transformational learning experiences for students and teacher teams. She has presented on assessment, mentoring, and supervision at a variety of national conferences, including NCTM (National Council of Teaching Mathematics), CMC (California Math Council), CPM Teacher Conference, and NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).

Karen Pavliscak, CATDC Facilitator

Karen Pavliscak is Associate Head for Teaching and Learning at The Archer School for Girls, She has served as a teacher and instructional leader for over 20 years with a focus on building positive school culture and supporting excellence in teaching and learning. Described as a "serial innovator," she believes future-facing teachers are designers of learning rather than planners of content. To support this shift in focus, she leads teams through the intersection of creative problem-solving and empowered collaboration. She has presented and consulted nationally on building professional culture and re-imagining supervision through a growth mindset.
