ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Great public-private school partnerships foster relationships that deepen student learning, advance our schools’ missions, and bring together our schools with our greater communities in meaningful ways. But how do these partnerships get built, nurtured, and sustained? What core concepts or approaches can help schools establish relationships that are reciprocal, sustainable, and authentic? What essential ingredients make these partnerships flourish so that all benefit? And what can be done when schools encounter obstacles or when these partnerships are not working?

By emphasizing promising practices as well as how to navigate potential pitfalls, this session will inform and inspire schools to move beyond just good intentions and towards meaningful impact for all.

The learning portion of our workshop will run from 1:00-5:00pm, with an optional happy hour from 5:00-6:00pm.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Examine a conceptual framework to help guide thinking and acting.
  • Explore key elements involved in making partnerships between schools and their greater communities thrive.
  • Share examples of schools around the country putting this theory into practice in innovative ways.
  • Reflect on their own school communities in collaboration and highlight both the challenges and the opportunities for this work.
