UPCOMING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Making Sense of AI

This introductory workshop offers educators relevant and practical entry points to begin the process of making sense of AI. After reviewing core concepts and principles of critical AI literacy, participants will experience guided, hands-on practice with AI tools, trying different prompts and use cases that can have a positive impact on our day-to-day work as educators. This is an interactive, participatory session, so participants should expect to engage in breakout activities where they discuss and share their work with colleagues.

Educating to Empower

This workshop is a beginner’s guide to becoming a liberatory educator who centers social justice within and beyond their classroom. We will delve into transformative strategies that focus on community building, decentering Western narratives, and fostering critical consciousness. This comprehensive exploration of liberatory education aims to empower educators to cultivate inclusive learning environments that challenge traditional power dynamics and promote equity and empathy.

At CATDC, we believe that every young person and adult in our schools should be supported to thrive. Advancing equity is a core value and a strategic priority. This means that CATDC serves as a resource for educators and schools in the ongoing work of disrupting systems, practices, and policies that prevent full participation of underrepresented and underserved groups. We work in collaboration with the CATDC community to create more just and equitable schools.

UPCOMING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Empowering Women in Tech

Led by two seasoned leaders in the field of technology, engineering, and design within independent schools, our program aims to foster a supportive community for women* tech leaders as they navigate the unique challenges and opportunities inherent in their roles. Our facilitators will guide sessions to address the multifaceted aspects of the work and provide a platform for participants to share experiences, discuss dynamics, and offer mutual support. This program is open to both current and aspiring women-identified leaders in the field.

Leadership Fellows Program

This Fellowship for experienced educators from throughout California supports the unique demands of independent school leaders—the only program of its kind in the state! Facilitated by two Heads of School (one former and one current), the Leadership Fellows Program offers time for personal reflection on one’s leadership journey, practical knowledge and skill development specifically targeted to independent school leadership, as well as supportive professional connections. The program opens with a two-day retreat in Santa Barbara designed to allow the cohort to connect and reflect as well as engage in sessions designed to hone leadership capacities.
