ABOUT THIS ONLINE WORKSHOP

This Summer Institute was initially imagined as a regional program to build connections between educators in Southern California. We encourage participants interested in networking with local peers to consider the initial intent of two Mastering Group Facilitation offerings: August 10-12th, Mastering Group Facilitation (LA), and August 4-6th, Mastering Group Facilitation (Bay Area).

Whether online, or In Real Life, we all know the power and impact of excellent meeting facilitation. Groups reach new levels of creativity, productivity, and innovation with the support of a strong facilitator. But what does it take to play that pivotal role? How does one consistently lead groups through complex, sometimes tense, discussions and decisions? How can these competencies be applied in the classroom as well as the conference room? And now, more than ever, we need to be able to also lead virtual meetings and discussions that engage colleagues and produce results when we are unable to meet in person. What are the specific skills and techniques that can be applied to master this often unwieldy domain?  “Mastering Group Facilitation” focuses on answering these questions. If working towards mastery in this area is a priority, then this dynamic workshop is for you. The workshop will take place over 3 consecutive days, running from 9am - 12pm.

Workshop Focus:

  • Creating a collaborative group culture
  • Facilitating tough topics under pressure
  • Fostering creative thinking & decision-making in groups
  • Building effective agendas that deliver on promises
  • Handling difficult individual and group dynamics

You will leave the workshop with new tools, tactics, and a personalized work plan containing strategies to improve your techniques. Our facilitator will be Dr. David Barkan, an internationally recognized consultant who has trained hundreds of educators to discover their strengths as leaders in schools for the past 20 years. He brings insight, humor, and boundless energy to his workshops, whether online or In Real Life.

This workshop is transformative for anyone who leads groups of colleagues or students, whether teachers, department chairs, academic deans or school heads.  We also highly encourage you to consider attending the workshop with a team from your school.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Enroll early to secure your spot!
