Support for Supporters (Bay Area)
The position of Administrative Assistant to the Head of School or Division Head is a unique, complicated, and demanding one, requiring a high degree of professionalism as well as a complex combination of exceptional interpersonal skills, technology know-how, and the ability to manage and track several projects and events simultaneously. Because the position requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality, those in it can feel particularly isolated from others in the school. This program offers a small, confidential, and welcoming environment designed to foster connection, learning, support, and dialogue with peers who share similar experiences and challenges.
Along with guest speakers and readings, there will also be time to problem solve, share know-how and resources, request practical feedback or suggestions, or just simply laugh about our jobs. Each meeting will focus on a different theme and will include a guest speaker. You will have free time during our lunch hour to connect with local peers in a similar job role.
The first meeting will include plenty of time to reacquaint or get to know one another, and the guest speaker will focus on interpersonal communication skills, including opportunities to explore and learn strategies to manage difficult conversations. Other topics may include the art of feedback, time management, self-advocacy and self-care. Prior to our first meeting, facilitators will survey participants about areas of interest for the group, in order to tailor the rest of the year with the needs and interests of the current participants.
The group will meet three times, from 9am – 2pm in the beautiful Manson Room with a view, on the fourth floor of The Bay School. The meeting will include a light organic breakfast and lunch.
