This ongoing program was created to offer a much-needed opportunity for us to examine the ways that white supremacy and anti-black racism, in particular, live within and are expressed through each of us. This work will be done in the context of a professional learning community in which participants mutually invest in one another’s growth and stick with the process in the face of success and challenge.

Teaching While White is a 2-day intensive for white teachers and administrators who want to expand their strategies for increasing racial equity in schools. Participants will explore what it means to be “white” and why it matters.

In this two-part workshop you will explore four cornerstones to a powerful leadership practice, and is appropriate for early leaders who are in the process of establishing themselves in a new role or are interested in taking on the next level of leadership.

This day-long workshop supports educators looking to move to the next step in their leadership journeys. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their leadership paths, strengths, and experiences, taking stock of where they have been and where they aspire to go as educators and leaders.

This 3-day Summer Institute is transformative for anyone who leads groups of colleagues or students, especially teachers, administrators, and department chairs. Participants will gain new tools, tactics, and a personalized work plan containing strategies to improve their facilitation techniques.

The Teaching Foundations program is designed to support the growth and success of all teachers—particularly those in their early years at independent schools—by focusing on foundational areas of classroom teaching.

This two-day session will introduce, expand on, and model key elements of differentiated instruction, seen through the unique lens of long-term, sustained school change. Designed for teachers, teacher leaders, coaches, and administrative leaders, some segments within the two-day program will bring all participants together in examination and discussion of what effective differentiation looks like and how teachers and leaders can support growth in differentiating effectively.

The year-long program includes both in-person and online support for educators. It kicks-off with a 2 day intensive classroom experience before the school year begins. Participants will investigate the psychology of change and learn how to most effectively act as a catalyst for change within a complex organizational structure.

The Summer Leadership Institute offers educators opportunities to explore, practice, and refine core competencies of independent school leadership. Led by Kate Sheppard and Jane Chandler, this year’s Summer Leadership Institute includes two programs that can be taken together or separately: The Art of Leading and Leading and Facilitating for Positive Change.
