Creating Inclusive Classroom Communities (Bay Area)

In these turbulent times, it is more important than ever for educators to bring awareness to their own identity and biases as well as develop a toolbox of strategies to help students develop greater self-awareness and empathy. Participants will gain both in this dynamic, experiential workshop designed for K-12 educators.

The morning will be spent engaged in activities and reflective writing designed to bring light to individual strengths, spheres of influence, privileges, and blind spots, all of which attendees can readily replicate in their communities.

The afternoon will allow for the opportunity to apply new learnings to participants’ specific contexts. Attendees will leave with point-by-point strategic maps to help them navigate challenging scenarios, support students to engage thoughtfully with those who come from different backgrounds and hold different viewpoints, and thus promote greater equity and inclusion in their classrooms.
