Administration Community Discourse (SF)

Independent school administrators have complicated and demanding jobs and can feel isolated from others in the school. This program offers a small, confidential, and welcoming environment designed to foster connection, support, and dialogue with fellow administrators who share similar experiences and challenges.

The overall goal is to increase support for administrators in management positions that are often one of a kind (i.e. Lower School Head, Dean of Students, Director of Admissions). Participants often form long-lasting connections rich with resources, experience, and insight.

The curriculum is what the administrators bring to each session. There are times we might need to vent, problem solve, think through, or just simply laugh about our jobs.  Participants can process the challenges as well as celebrate the successes they experience daily; there will be time allocated for both updates and deep dives into topics of shared interest.

The group will agree upon a date for a fifth session in April.

Katherine Preston

Katherine Preston, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has been a practicing psychotherapist for over twenty years. She is currently the mental health consultant for the San Francisco Friends School and she teaches lifespan development and family systems theory at Sofia University in Palo Alto. She also maintains a private practice in San Francisco and has held many clinical leadership positions overseeing and providing clinical training and supervision for therapeutic school-based services.
